The Charles Woods Papers contain correspondence from Charles Woods concerning a Southern claim against the United States government that he was attempting to resolve. A majority of the correspondence addresses his difficulties with getting his claim reviewed, extortion, and his experience overall. The letters within the collection are dated primarily in 1873, with one letter from 1878.
