Research Requests and Appointments

The State Historical Society of Missouri is committed to providing access to its collections to patrons who visit onsite and those who request remote research assistance.

Remote Research Assistance

For patrons unable to visit one of SHSMO's research centers, the Society offers remote research assistance. To learn more about the types of research assistance offered by SHSMO, including fees for services, please see the Research Services page. Requests for remote assistance are submitted using the form below; please select "no" under "appointment needed."

Visiting a Center

For in-person visitors, the State Historical Society of Missouri's six statewide research centers have public hours Tuesday through Friday. The Columbia Research Center also has public hours on Saturday. Appointments are strongly encouraged to ensure that requested materials are available at the time of your visit. Please use the form, below, to identify your research needs or to request an appointment.

Collections stored at one research center can be viewed at any of the other research centers. Please note that transfers between research centers can take between one and three weeks. Please contact the Cape Girardeau and Springfield Research Centers directly for information regarding the next available bi-monthly collection material delivery.
