Scott Smith was born and raised in Lewistown, Montana. He attended college at Montana State University in Bozeman, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology in 2019. After graduating, he moved to St. Louis to pursue work in the Midwest. After a few years he decided to return to school at the University of Missouri to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design. He started at SHSMO in 2024, working on the newspaper microfilming project.
