Did you know that SHSMO has a FREE art gallery and welcomes visitors of all ages to the Center for Missouri Studies? From Thomas Hart Benton's Year of Peril series to Fred Geary's regionalist woodcuts to paintings by George Caleb Bingham, SHSMO’s gallery features permanent and rotating exhibitions that help us learn about the past while experiencing world-class art.
Be part of SHSMO's Art Gallery Giving Campaign
We appreciate everyone who has donated to SHSMO's 2024 Art Gallery giving campaign so far! There's still time to give. Because of your generous support, SHSMO can:
- Welcome more than 50 tour groups each year
- Host pop-up exhibitions, featuring student artwork
- Travel to schools to help kids learn about Missouri history through art
- Curate exhibits in the SHSMO gallery that are always free
- Add a Sketch Day in 2025 for students to come explore art, express their own creativity, and share their work in a pop-up exhibition
Thank you for making these opportunities possible with your gift to SHSMO's art gallery giving campaign!
Art is very accessible. Everyone can look at works of art and immediately begin to understand the past. ~Joan Stack, SHSMO curator of art collections
