Sci Fi Fandom in Missouri

A.J. Medlock, coordinator of the State Historical Society of Missouri St. Louis Research Center, presents a brief history of science fiction fandom in Missouri. Learn about the evolution of this unique Missouri sub-culture, chronicling the formation of the Ozark Science Fiction Association in St. Louis to the Archon, one of the longest-running science fiction and fantasy conventions in Missouri. About the Presenter

A. J. Medlock coordinates the State Historical Society of Missouri St. Louis Research Center. He has a master's degree in library and information science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Arts in public history from Southeast Missouri State University. Prior to joining SHSMO in 2017, he worked as an associate historian on the Soldiers Memorial Revitalization Project at the Missouri History Museum. A lifelong Missourian, Medlock traces his family's roots in the state to southeast Missouri in 1850.
