SHSMO’s Rolla Research Center and Missouri S&T Curtis Laws Wilson Library are sponsoring four events (virtual and in person) and an exhibition at the library on the Missouri S&T campus in October to celebrate American Archives Month. An exhibition highlighting the 75th anniversary of desegregation in higher education and related programs will occur throughout October. These special events at the Curtis Laws Wilson Library include:
Opening Reception October 7, 5:30 p.m. 6:30 p.m. The exhibition will run throughout October during regular library hours.
Desegregation of Missouri’s Public Schools in the Wake of Brown v. Board of Education October 14, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Presented by Gary Kremer, executive director of the State Historical Society of Missouri. Virtual and In Person.
Desegregation to Integrations at the Missouri School of Mines and the University of Missouri, 1950-1963 October 21, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Presented by Larry Gragg, university historian and professor emeritus of history and political science at Missouri S&T. Virtual and In Person.
Reflections on the Academic Career of the First African American Faculty at the University of Missouri-Rolla/Missouri S&T October 28, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Presented by Harvest Collier, professor emeritus of chemistry and former vice provost of undergraduate studies at Missouri S&T. Virtual and In Person.
