The sixty-first annual Missouri Conference on History will be held March 6-8 at the Holiday Inn Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. The conference, hosted by the University of Missouri–Kansas City and Park University, brings together scholars, teachers, and other professional historians to share in the presentation of research, to exchange information on teaching and curriculum, to consider ways to promote the welfare of the profession and general interest in history, and to discuss other concerns common to all historians.

Registrations made after February 26 do not guarantee meals at the keynote or the award luncheons.

All presenters and participants must register for the conference. Submission of the registration form is a commitment to attend the conference, and reimbursement will not be issued for cancellations. Another member of your organization is welcome in your place if circumstances necessitate.

Student Financial Assistance Program

The Missouri Conference on History encourages aspiring and young historians to present their work. In 2019 the Missouri Humanities Council is offering a new program of financial assistance to both undergraduate and graduate student presenters. Travel grants will cover the conference registration fee, lodging at the conference hotel, and up to $150 of additional related expenses. Harris-Kearney House

Join us for refreshments at the Harris-Kearney House in Westport to kick off the sixty-first annual Missouri Conference on History. Located about one mile from the Holiday Inn Plaza, the Harris-Kearney House, built in 1855 and expanded in 1873, is Westport’s oldest brick residence. The home served as Union headquarters during the Civil War, and it survived the Battle of Westport in October 1864, which was one of the largest battles west of the Mississippi River. Docents will be available to provide tours. Parking is available in a small lot at the site and nearby on the street.

Enjoy an evening at the Kansas City Public Library with refreshments and a relaxed environment for networking. The event will also include student poster presentations in the Helzberg Auditorium. The Missouri Valley Room, home to the library’s local history and genealogy department, will be open, with staff available to answer questions.
