The artworks currently on view in the SHSMO Art Gallery are drawn from a recent donation by Simmons Bank of 38 works of photography, ceramics, fibers, painting, and mixed media. The bank is well-known for its rich art collection initiated by Brenda Landrum Bingham when the institution was owned by her family and scrupulously developed over several decades by her brother, Marquis "Mark" Landrum.

Simmons Bank's art holdings, while international in scope, retain a commitment to the artwork of local and regional artists, and it is from these works that the gift to SHSMO was selected. Many of the artists represented are acclaimed and collected both within their home state and on the global level, and several have guided and supported other artists through their teaching. Chronicling the last half-century of Missouri artmaking, the Simmons gift serves as an important addition to the State Historical Society's art collection.

Join us for an Opening Reception July 25, 4:30-6:30 p.m. The public is invited!
