Join Cape Girardeau Research Center Coordinator Bill Eddleman for the next installment in his genealogy series: “Combining Traditional and Archival Resources to Tell a Life Story: Michael S. Eddlemon.” Most of us consult the “traditional” sources when researching our families, and many of these are discussed in earlier sessions in this Basic Genealogy series and include census, vital records (birth, marriage, and death), land records, and more. These often give us an outline of our ancestors’ lives but tell us little about our ancestors as people. This presentation documents how “beyond the basics” resources can give us a more complete picture of our ancestors. The story will weave a biography by integrating both traditional and “beyond the basics” sources. Eddleman will use the example of one of his great-great-great uncles, Michael Sides Eddlemon, to illustrate the ideas.

This program, sponsored by the State Historical Society of Missouri, is available online and free. Registration is required, below.
