Vivek Malek
Vivek Malek currently serves as Missouri’s 48th State Treasurer, appointed by Governor Mike Parson to be the first person of color to hold a statewide office in the history of the state. Born in Rohtak, India, he earned bachelors and law degrees in India before coming to Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau for his master's degree in business administration. Vivek earned his MBA from SEMO, and he went on to receive a Master of Law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law. Malek decided to make Missouri his home and began practicing law. In January 2020, Gov. Mike Parson tapped Vivek to serve on the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Governors.
Along with being Missouri’s Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer Malek serves on the Board of Fund Commissioners, the Missouri Cultural Trust Board, the Missouri Linked Deposits Program Review Committee, and the State Historical Society of Missouri.
