St. Louis Middle School Student Advances to National Civics Bee Contest

Middle school students from St. Louis, Peculiar, Raymore, Dixon, Richmond Heights, Waynesville, and Belton, participated in the Missouri Civics Bee sponsored by The Civic Trust of the U.S. Chamber Foundation, Missouri Chamber of Commerce, University of Missouri Kinder Institute for Constitutional Democracy, and the State Historical Society of Missouri. Regional partners include Harrisonville Chamber of Commerce and Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce.
Garry C. of St. Louis won the state contest, which was held at the Center for Missouri Studies on July 15. He received a check for $1,000 and a trip to compete at the National Civics Bee contest later this year in Washington, D.C. The winners at the national contest receive up to $100,000 in scholarship monies for post-secondary education. This is the second year that Missouri has participated in the National Civics Bee competition. In 2026, the contest will have all 50 states and the U.S. territory of American Samoa participate in the contest, which has been a goal of the organizers.
The National Civics Bee is an annual nonpartisan competition to engage middle school students in civics and to contribute to their local communities. It is open to all students in grades 6-8, and there is no cost for schools or students to enter the contest. To learn more, visit The Civic Trust
