Missouri History Day Awarded Major Grant from Missouri Humanities

Missouri History Day, administered by the State Historical Society of Missouri as part of the National History Day contest, recently received a major grant of $13,800 from Missouri Humanities for the 2026-2027 contest year. Missouri Humanities is a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The grant funding will be used for student and teacher workshops, contest venue costs, regional and state contest support, and to help offset the costs for program supplies and promotional giveaways at outreach events statewide.

“We deeply appreciate Missouri Humanities for its continuous support of Missouri History Day,” said Danielle Griego, coordinator of the statewide contest. “Thanks to this generous grant, we can support students at the regional and state levels and promote the program throughout the state.”

This year’s National History Day contest theme is Innovation in History: Impact, Influence, Change. The state contest is tentatively set for April 24, 2027, on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia. Volunteers are always welcomed and needed to help with the regional and state contests to serve as judges and other roles. For more information on Missouri History Day, visit nhdmo.org.
