Join us September 11 for the premiere of Magnificent Missouri and Once Films new documentary film, TheTrail State, hosted by the State Historical Society of Missouri. A free, public reception begins at 5 p.m. with the screening at 6 p.m. A conversation with the filmmakers follows the 56-minute film.
The Trail State examines the power of trails to transform communities, economies, and lives. At its heart is Missouri’s 237-mile Katy Trail—once an abandoned rail line, now a thriving connection between people, places, and possibility. Its success has inspired a new generation of trails, including the Rock Island Trail in Kansas City to the St. Louis’ Brickline Greenway. Through these stories, The Trail State explores how Missouri is leading the way in proving that trails are more than recreation—they are economic lifelines, conservation tools, and bridges to a more connected future.
The film premiere is a kickoff to the weekend at Cooper’s Landing on the Katy Trail, 11505 Smith Hatchery Road, Columbia. Conservation Expo 2026 will be held September 12 and 13. Learn about land and water environments while enjoying live music and fun activities for all ages. Over 50 organizations will be available to offer information and services on conservation stewardship.
