SHSMO Center for Missouri Studies
605 Elm St.
Columbia
Join us for an afternoon of music so good it’s scary! This Halloween, SHSMO will close out the 2026 Music on Elm concert series with performances by hometown heroes The Onions and Adventure Hat. The event and the music are family-friendly and we encourage you to get into the holiday spirit with your finest costume! Crafts and candy provided for all the ghouls and goblins.
The Onions are John Gilbreth, Taylor Bacon, and Lou Nevins, obscure pop archivists, dusting off the bookshelf of neglected pop music gems, rearranged for your pleasure. Their recent releases include “Return to Paradise” (2025) and the revamped “Tuesday’s Dreamer” (2026), originally released on cassette in 2022 as “Coy Pond.”
Adventure Hat is a music collective whose members embrace their Americana roots while cultivating their own unique voices. Ranging from quiet broken-heartedness to loud, sweaty soapboxing, and with lyrics that are at once personal and universal, the Adventure Hat folks always sing their hearts out and strum a little too hard. Come and listen; ready or not, they’ll make you feel things. Always eclectic, and sometimes electric.
The Saturday concert is free and open to the public! Thank you Central Bank | Central Trust for sponsoring this season of Music on Elm.
Donate today to help the Music on Elm series thrive! Your support raises awareness of SHSMO’s music and performing arts archival collections, brings people together with Missouri musicians, and creates opportunities for local talent to share their artistry with the community.
