Mail Carrier with a Camera: Photographs of Burford Royston

Available now is Mail Carrier with a Camera: Photographs of Burford Royston, a new book published by the State Historical Society of Missouri. Seventy-five photographs, mostly taken in the 1950s, were selected from hundreds of slides in the Burford Leon Royston Collection and recently donated to SHSMO by the Royston family. The book is a companion piece to the current exhibition in the William Guitar Little Missouri Gallery of Art in the Center for Missouri Studies. The exhibition is open during regular visitor hours through September 2025. Royston, a mail carrier and talented amateur photographer in Howard County, Missouri, created a stirring visual record of the people and places along his route from the 1950s to early 1970s.
