Meet us in St. Louis September 15, 4-6  p.m., and explore Missouri’s role in shaping American sound with a reception for Music in Missouri, an exhibit that details Missouri’s contribution to American music, specifically St. Louis music styles, such as ragtime, jazz, rock ‘n roll, and rap. The exhibit also highlights the ways in which musical interactions broke down barriers—especially those based on race, gender, and region—and made Missouri a unique place for creativity, reinvention, and progress.

The free Music in Missouri reception will also include selected items from the St. Louis Research Center music acquisitions, the St. Louis Harmony Chorus Records (S0334), and the John Forrester Papers (S0339). Visitors also have the opportunity to participate in a raffle for a chance to win a mini replica of the Missouri Bicentennial Quilt.
