Show-Me State Sports in the 1920s (Children's Program)

10:00 am – 10:45 am

In conjunction with our July 22 presentation—"They will carry away the laurels”: Missouri Sports in the 1920s—the State Historical Society of Missouri is offering Show-Me State Sports in the 1920s, a program geared towards elementary-school-age children that highlights notable state-wide sporting events and organizations from 100 years ago. Join Oral Historian Sean Rost to learn about the 1919-20 University of Missouri men's basketball team and its "nearly" perfect season, the Bloomer Girls and their baseball barnstorming tours, the Missourians who participated in the 1920 Olympics, and the successful African American high school and college football teams that competed in the Interstate Athletic Association. Online and free. Registration is required.
