Join SHSMO’s Children’s Storytime for a celebration of Black History Month. SHSMO’s Executive Director Gary Kremer will read Patricia Hruby Powell’s Josephine: The Dazzling life of Josephine Baker. Honored with the prestigious Coretta Scott King Book Award for illustration, this captivating work follows Baker from her humble beginnings in St. Louis to the grandest stages in Paris, while also recounting her contributions to the civil rights movement. Kremer will then read selected excerpts of Missouri native Patricia McKissack’s celebrated Miami Jackson Gets It Straight, in which a young boy tries to endure the excruciating final five days of school before summer starts.
