Dred Scott was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. Currently a deputy superintendent of the Independence School District, Scott is responsible for all aspects of curriculum, instruction, and assessment across the district. He worked for 11 years in the Raytown C-2 School District in a variety of capacities before joining the Independence School District in 2008. During his third year of teaching, Scott was honored as Raytown’s teacher of the year. Scott holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Baker University. He attended Central Missouri State University for his masters and Southwest Missouri State University for his undergraduate studies. His contributions to the Independence community include membership on the boards of the Community Services League, Drumm Farm Center for Children, and the Truman Medical Centers.
